The Dark Knight for Best Picture
The Dark Knight is the most financially successful movie of 2008, has the highest average score (8.5/10) for any live-action film on Rotten Tomatoes, and was just simply awesome in every way imaginable. This movie shot into my Top 5 All-Time favorites without any debate.
In my opinion, and in most opinions for that matter, The Dark Knight should be nominated for Best Picture for the Academy Awards. I’d go as far as saying it should win, but unfortunately I am not in a position to vote or in a position of influence in the matter. However, with a number of the more “serious contenders” for the nominations getting ” was good but not great” style comments, the possibility of The Dark Knight being nominated is becoming better and better.
As a result, The Dark Campaign has been created in an effort to “turn the tide on those long odds”. The news comes on the heels of Apple’s announcement that the film has become the best-selling movie download on iTunes, despite the fact that the movie is still not available. (The movie is being released this coming Tuesday - December 9th) One can only hope that justice can be done, and that the Academy can nominate movies that people (the general public) actually see and enjoy (e.g. The Lord of the Rings).
